This is a time when Freedom is celebrated in our country. In addition to political freedom, It is a time to be mindful of the blessing of other freedoms within our personal lives. The Freedom to choose what we will allow in our lives and what we will not. The Freedom to not be held hostage by the actions of others. The Freedom to live authentically. These Freedoms are realized through acts of forgiveness. This edition of the newsletter highlights The Freedom of Forgiveness. May this be your Independence Day, your personal Time of Freedom, no matter what the circumstances in which you live.
What is forgiveness?
Forgiveness is NOT about justifying anyone’s wrong behavior…ever. Forgiveness is not about forgetting. Forgiveness does not mean that you have to reconnect or have the person that you forgive involved in your life.
Forgiveness is not about the other person at all. It is about ourselves. Forgiveness is remembering and then making a choice to let go. Letting go is for you. Forgiveness is a gift that you give yourself. Forgiveness is about choosing not to stay stuck in pain and freeing ourselves to move forward.
Forgiveness equals freedom
by Charles Lightwalker
Forgiveness is a journey to freedom. Forgiveness of another loosens the bonds that hold us, hostage. It is a complex process, not to be taken lightly. The process of forgiveness is transformational. Be patient and tender with yourself on your journey to forgiveness. When we can resolve an issue and consecrate it with forgiveness, we are free to move forward unencumbered by the past. We are empowered to move forward with a deeper understanding of who we are, but we have to let go of some emotional energy in order to do this.
The forgiveness process teaches us to be gentle with ourselves and with others. In order to give the best of yourself, it is necessary to love yourself first. Forgiveness is truly a journey to personal freedom.
Freedom through loving detachment

Loving Detachment invites us to offer our support and guidance to others without becoming emotionally attached to the circumstances surrounding their life experiences. It also invites us to remove the judgments we place on others, recognizing that each individual is being who he or she is choosing to be, based on their current emotional state of being.
Practicing Loving Detachment requires of us to recognize that behind every human experience, there is a divine soul in action, a soul-fulfilling divine purpose. We are not here to change the destiny and journey that others have chosen to take. We can only offer others our light and love to illuminate their way!
Remember, we are all intimately connected. The energies of those closest to us deeply affect our mood, and our mental, emotional, our physical, and our spiritual state of being. As a creator, you have the divine power to CHOOSE light, choose peace, choose harmony, and choose LOVE.
Become a beam of light for others and yourself. Learn how to honor others as divine spiritual beings, have a human experience, and learn how to practice Loving Detachment. You will be honoring the process of life and of spirit.
Some helpful affirmations that will assist you in remembering to remain lovingly detached are:
-
- I choose to honor the spirit in everyone; I choose to honor the choices of others.
- I choose to remain lovingly and emotionally unattached to the dramas created by others.
- I choose to unveil my radiance of light, patience, and compassion.
- I choose to be a vessel of love and understanding.
- I vow to honor my spirit and my sacred self.
