It is hard to believe that it is already September. Change is in the air. Now is the time we begin to harvest all that creative energy we put out in the summer. We notice the gradual shift into shorter daylight hours. The leaves are starting to turn color. We see a transition as kids go back to school. Many people are experiencing significant changes in their lives…new homes, new relationships, health issues, etc.
The message, a reminder really, that I have for you and for me during this time is to remain fully in the Present, no matter what is going on. So if you catch yourself in Joy, surrender to and enjoy the moment. If you are in a challenge, surrender to and accept the moment. That is, after all, all that we have. Tomorrow becomes our new Today. Today becomes our yesterday. Honor and cherish each Today…each Moment…each Now. Now is where Life happens.
Staying in the Present Moment
Even in our most challenging moments, we are advised to take a breath and remember who we are. No matter what is occurring, we are eternal souls. No matter what challenges we face, we are connected to the source of all life and all abundance. No matter what pains we feel, these are simply areas where we don’t remember that by staying within the moment with what is, we can choose acceptance and peace.
There are times when it seems that life is unbearably challenging. There are times when life is overwhelming. There are times when we are not sure how we will handle all the things we must accomplish and all the challenges that are present in our lives. When we find ourselves in one of these moments, we are to breathe, relax and talk to our Higher Power, asking for clarity, courage, strength, and peace. Then we are to ask ourselves, “What must I deal with right now, at This moment?” By being present, we are more effective, more attuned to guidance, and more able to deal with the task and events at hand.
There are times when our lives are unbelievably beautiful and joyful. These are the times to sit, breathe, and be in gratitude for the blessings in our lives. When we are in such deep gratitude we do not allow our minds to wander out to the future and wonder how long or if the joy will last. Accept it, receive it, and breathe it in. Be one with it now.
Living in the present moment is the only way we can ever truly ‘deal with’ or ‘enjoy’ life. Allowing our mind to wander to the past, except to learn its lessons, is a waste of time. Allowing our mind to wander to the future, except to intend the next creation, is also a way of distracting ourselves from the moment. Whether we are in the challenge or in joy, the moment we have now is the one to embrace. We will more quickly deal with our challenges, and more deeply enjoy our joys.
Be present. That is where the presence of God’s love is found most fully.
